LoRaWAN radio module with sensors for the Novator water meter
The radio module for the Novator water meter allows the meter to be read remotely.
The device detects low battery, magnetic interference, unauthorized water withdrawal, and backflow and sends signals about these to the metering system. The collected data is transmitted through the wireless LoRaWAN network.

The device is mounted on the meter body and fixed with a clamping screw. Next, the radio module is activated and deactivated by applying a momentary magnetic field. Finally, the device is activated in the installer’s mobile app. The entire process takes just a few minutes and does not require meter removal.
The radio module receives data through an optical sensor that registers the hand turns of the meter dial. The sensor captures one full turn of the hand and generates an impulse which is sent to the data transmission module.
The collected readings are then transmitted to a server via the wireless LoRaWAN network.
For reliability, the data is stored in its own non-volatile memory for the following periods:
- 1 month (hourly consumption);
- 4 months (daily consumption).
Data can be sent at intervals ranging from once per hour to once per day, depending on customer requirements.
The device has an autonomous power supply comprising an integrated high-capacity battery with a lifetime of between 5 and 15 years.
