Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant
About Kryvyi Rih TPP
Kryvyi Rih TPP is the largest power plant in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and the third TPP in Ukraine in terms of electrical capacity, at 2892 MW. The plant provides electricity to the Dnieper region, which is why it is the country’s important electric power system facility.
Why Jooby Avenue?
The Energo Trend engineering company was in charge of the renovation of the lighting system at the Kryvyi Rih TPP. It carried out all the lighting design and energy calculations, dismantled the old equipment, and installed Jooby Avenue floodlights.
According to projections, the installation of modern LED floodlights will provide an adequate level of illumination over the grounds of the TPP, while allowing a significant reduction in power consumption.
Avenue LED floodlights are resistant to rapid temperature changes, and their guaranteed service life is seven years. Unlike mercury lamps they do not need special disposal, which allows additional savings on the maintenance of the electric lighting system.
Twenty-kilowatt DKsT (ДКсТ) lamps and low-efficiency OUKsN (ОУКсН) floodlights had been used to illuminate the grounds of the Kryvyi Rih TPP. In total, that lighting system consumed 150 kW⋅h. It worked for 4110 hours every year, and during this period it consumed up to 616,500 kW of energy. According to the calculations of the Energo Trend company, the dismantling of the inefficient lamps and installation of Avenue floodlights has reduced this figure by an order of magnitude.
Now, the lighting system of Kryvyi Rih TPP consists of 14 Avenue 2xS5x80-F1/x-5K7H-Ci-SPC floodlights. The plant’s energy consumption has decreased by 12.5 times, from 150 kW⋅h to 12 kW⋅h. The lighting continues to operate for 4110 hours per year, but thanks to Jooby Avenue floodlights, Kryvyi Rih Thermal Power Plant has saved more than half a million kilowatts of energy over this period.
